The NRA’s president David Keene recorded an interview with the conservative news site The Daily Caller that it will be releasing in full today. In an excerpt, Keene compared the weapon used in the Sandy Hook massacre to the musket:
KEENE: This nation was founded as a result of the fact, people, citizens who had a musket above their fireplace grabbed the gun when an emergency confronted them. For four million Americans, the AR-15 is the musket of today.
For reference, the AR-15 can fire between 700 to 950 rounds a minute. In contrast, the muskets that the American revolutionaries used typically fired three rounds per minute if they were used by skilled marksmen.

AR-15′s cannot fire 750 rounds per minute. That is false. They are not fully automatic. Even if they could that kind of heat would set them on fire

they are different. The M-16 is fully automatic and government issue only. The AR-15 is semi automatic meaning you have to pull the trigger back 1 time for every 1 shot. Tell ya what. sit there with your finger and pull it back 700 times in one minute, see if you can do it

Justin you are absolutely right! I don’t mind that people think that we should ban certain guns (I disagree but that’s their right) but I vehemently disagree when they misrepresent the facts. You CANNOT shoot 750 rounds a minute with an AR-15, heck you can’t even do that with an M-16 anymore since M-16 don’t have full automatic capability. They have three shot bursts. It seems to me that the response about gun control is a knee jerk reaction with NO rational thought behind it.
