The election for Minnesota’s Senate seat in 2008 ended with a razor thin victory for Al Franken. Despite Franken’s lead, Norm Coleman refused to concede. To give him an incentive to respect the will of the people, we launched “A Dollar A Day To Make Norm Go Away!” For every day Coleman stayed in the race, our members raised huge sums of money for his opponents, giving him an incentive to drop out and for high-profile Republicans backing his obstructionism to get out of the way.Ai??In the end our members gave over $200,000 and convinced Coleman to drop out.
