We’ve just received word that Pennsylvania voters are getting mailers claiming that they have to have a photo ID to vote today. Here’s a picture of the mailer being given out:
This mailer isn’t accurate at all. On October 2nd, the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court stopped the full enforcement of the Voter ID Law for this 2012 election. That means that you do not need an ID to vote.
Pennsylvania’s Governor Tom Corbett (R) is simply misleading voters by allowing this mailer to be given out.

“received word?” From whom? By what means? Please state your evidence, beyond hearsay. I’m as left as Lenin, but unsupported claims merit no credibility, and are just fodder for the wingnuts.
actually this is a bit spun out of context. all the radio ads and tv commercials here in pittsburgh clearly tell everyone that while you aren’t required to show an ID, they really suggest you bringing one and that is the push. this mailer is just reminding the suggestion, which has been constantly blasted the past 2 months
I just voted in Akron, Pennsylvania. I was asked to show ID. I showed my driver’s license. I asked if this was voluntary, because I know it’s not law yet. They said it was voluntary. The poll workers were giving pink papers to voters without ID which explains that in future elections, voters will be required by law to show ID.
Anyone who deliberately tries to interfere with voting should be prosecuted by the law.
How is it LEGAL that you don’t have to show ID and prove you’re a registered voter??? So you can just go around town and load up and vote 5 or 6 times!?
