We now know that the AR-15, a combat weapon not designed for hunting or personal defense, was the weapon used in the tragic Sandy Hook killings.
What may be surprising to many is that the mega-retailer Wal-Mart has been selling this weapon to its general customer base. Shortly after the shooting, Wal-MartAi??quietly pulledAi??the AR-15 off of its site, leaving the actual purchase page with an error message but customer reviews still standing.
Here’s theAi??review page where customers give the rifle a 94 percent rating:
The Nation’s George Zornick has a lengthy articleAi??in The Nation that lays out how Wal-Mart helped proliferate the AR-15 and make it one of the most popular assault weapons in America. Tellingly, the chain declined to comment on the story.
You must be in a world of your own. AR15s aren’t used for hunting?? Really?? I use mine all the time. Your statement that they’re used for killing only is so out there. The AR15s ARE NOT assault weapons. Assault weapons are full auto (hold the trigger till empty). Not semi-auto. Semi-auto rifles have been around for years. They are used to HUNTING.
A tragedy has happened. The death of those kids is terrible. I wish it would never have happened but it was done by a deranged man that wanted to die too. You nor I could not have calculated that happening.
Now you gun haters want to use this to take “assault” weapons away (remember…AR15s are semi-auto thus not assault weapons). I suppose the 2nd amendment doesn’t mean anything to you because you have a different view. It’s your right. Lots of folks have died for you to have that right. They also died for people like me that like guns for sport and competition shooting and have the right to own them. But I guess WE don’t have the same rights as you…huh?
What if the guy used a machete? Would you call for a ban of sharp knives? What if he used a bat? Gonna ban baseball? The gun didn’t do the killing. The man did. Guns don’t go off by themselves. Someone has to pull the trigger. You gun-haters jump at any opportunity to “try” to take our guns. All I can say is, you have one hell of a fight on your hands. I’m ready…are you?
Not made for hunting or self defense? How could you write that? Are you meaning to insinuate it was made for killing children then? What a brainless statement. Anything misused for assaulting an individual will be good to be used for self defense, but through your lib anti constitution position I’m sure that’s incomprehensible. Let me explain it like this. Guy goes into your favorite organic tofu grocer and robs the place while your there, look at his gun. Then when the cop gets there, look at his. They will look the same, possibly will be the exact same. Same weapon the bad guy in CT used, he will contend with on my property, as I use it in SELF DEFENSE.
Oh, and while we’re here, Walmart hasn’t sold very many of these. Didn’t see any at Walmart until about a year and a half ago. Seeing they’ve been available to the public for decades your assertion that they “helped proliferate and make it one of the most popular” is ludicrous. And being that I’m minutes from walmarts home office it’s unlikely they didn’t start here. Every concept and idea travels through here first. But don’t let truth get in the way of your fantasy.
FYI- this is a self defense story. Of course as a lib you probably saw this as a teen attacking a fellow lib voter…
