Some Members of Congress want to cut Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security benefits. President Obama has indicated he is still open to cutting Social Security benefits with a so-called “Chained CPI.”
Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) is organizing to stop these benefit cuts. He’s circulating a letter among his colleagues that states the following:
We will vote against any and every cut to Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security benefits — including raising the retirement age or cutting the cost of living adjustments that our constituents earned and need.
But he needs your help for the letter to gain momentum. With our friends at Democracy for America, CREDO Action, Ai??Social Security Works, Working Families Party, Move On, and Rebuild The Dream, we’re working on getting citizen co-sponsors of Grayson’s letter. Click here to sign on.
Absolutely no cuts to Social Secuity,Medicare,Medicaid or Foodstamps!
No cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid or Foodstamps. Balance the budget by taxing capital gains as ordinary income, and taxing inheritance as income too (with lifetime income averaging). Then add a carbon tax, and phase out the home mortgage tax exemption. That should do it!
Thanks for your enthusiasm. Please pass on this petition!
If we are to be real progressives, we need to look at structural changes to the Medicare, Medicaid and social security to both lower the costs (that is cutting cost by determining where changes can be made that don’t drop the health or welfare of the recipients) and to increase revenues to allow success to not cause the recipients to not receive enough help to truly benefit.
I am afraid I hear too much hardline and intractable jargon from the progressives that isn’t any more helpful than the nuts in the Republican party who also don’t have a clue.
Systems originally designed a long time ago need constant improvement in this modern world to be effective. Things change! We see that every day in other parts of our life. Why should we be surprised that these critical services also need tuning?
What we really need to do is stop all the Medicare Fraud by this vast Medical care system we have today in this country. I’m confident that eliminating medicare fraud by health care providers would far exceed any relief that cutting benefits will have. Any cuts to health care recipients will only force the average person to go untreated for their condition, while the health care industry as a whole, funded by their billions of dollars in lobbying will keep expanding fraudulent and overpriced procedures , patients will be denied treatment, which will only cost the country billions in the long run, by the expansion of the constituinecy
that can not care for themselves because of these denied and scaled back coverages.
Instead of going after the people who can least afford it, how about focusing on the fat cats that have turn our health care system into their own personal cash cow.
stomp bombing all these countries then we would be able to pay for it 5 times over.
