National Review Online writer Kevin Williamson was on MSNBC today and claimed that Medicare and Social Security benefits are not important for seniors and that it would be best if they went “broke”:
WILLIAMSON: These programs we’re working so hard to defend like Medicare and Social Security don’t actually do a tremendous amount of good for people […] So the sooner those go broke, the sooner those disappear, and we replace them with, better more productive alternatives, the better off the country is.
Watch it:
Recall that Williamson once justified a Tennessee county refusing to put out a fire that burned down a family’s home because they did not pay for a subscription-only fire service. It now appears that he’s ready to burn down the country’s most treasured social insurance programs.
I don’t know where to begin other then to simply say you have zero clue what you are talking about…I have been in the insurance biz for the past 50 years including a company director & I can tell you without any doubt, without any question that to leave the health of ANYONE in the hands of a “FOR PROFIT” company is by far the worst thing that can be done.. Please don’t give me death pannels of garbage like that, you are nothing but a pawn for the private health & drug companies, you know it & I know it…. This Nation should have Medi-Care for ALL & if you insist on private compnaies involvment they can sell ploicies to augment as they do now….
I am on disability for injuries physical as well as mental. And I would never make it if it weren’t for the help. You trying living on nothing and see where it gets you …… God says to help the hurting and hungry, not make your self richer. Where did the rich man in the Bible go? To hell ….read it!
