CALL TIPS

Will need to make calls:

  1. A desktop, laptop, or tablet to see the script
  2. A landline or cell phone to call in
  3. (optional but highly recommended) A headset to better hear the calls and to give your arm/ear a break.

Callers should:

  1. Go full screen in your browser and turn off ad blockers to ensure the wait screen live tracking numbers are accurate to the caller. Does not affect the actual data but can affect if a caller sees a true number of connected calls for their session.
  2. Call in on a regular phone line, either a cell phone or a landline. While the system can work using a VOIP calling system (Google Voice, Skype, “calling over wifi” on your cell phone) we do NOT recommend it since it makes your audio connection dependent on your internet speed and can introduce a longer delay for the voter to hear you.
  3. Wait to press Sign In until you are ready to make calls. If you take too long to call in after signing in (2 minutes) the session can time out and you will need to get a new login.
  4. Talk directly after the beep. Due to normal internet delays, the voter has probably already said hello so do NOT wait for the voter to start talking first. Treat the beep as a “Hello” and just start in with the script.
  5. Use the script buttons even if you know the script already. Data is recorded by clicking through the script so if you don’t click, no data will be recorded and the campaign will need to call that voter all over again.
  6. Use headphones for audio to stay more comfortable and to better hear the voters.
  7. If possible, use Chrome, Firefox, or Safari browser. Internet Explorer is not recommended.
  8. TO SIGN OUT: Wait for your next connected call, then click “Not Ready” before you save the call results. The screen will confirm you are not receiving calls. Then just close the browser and sign out. If you log out while waiting for a call, those calls will be ringing and if the voter picks up, they may get hung up on if no other caller is available to take the call.
  9. Stay logged in as long as possible.  If you log in and out multiple times throughout your shift (especially without logging out at the end of a call), you will slow down the system for everyone else as the system is constantly adjusting for the different callers numbers.  When callers are logged in for a longer time, the system is able to gradually speed up more and more, leading to shorter wait times and more conversations.
