Late yesterday, a mysterious post showed up on New York City's craigslist ads. A "firm" is offering $20 to protesters to show up at an anti-wind energy protest outside the British Consulate in Manhattan. Here's a screen grab of it:
Astroturfing is not a new tactic for corporate interests. For example, Ralph Reed's lobbying firm tried to create a fake tea party movement to stop regulation of Wall Street.
