Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) is looking to move from the halls of Congress to his state’s Governor’s mansion. He is campaigning heavily on the theme of “family,” and says he is promoting heterosexual marriage in order to fight child poverty.
But when time came to actually give families a leg up by making sure that hard work is rewarded for good pay, Pence stood on the side of Big Business instead. Here’s a clip from a floor debate in 2007 where the congressman argued (unsuccessfully) against raising the minimum wage to $7.25. He called the increase “excessive” and warned that it would be “irresponsible” for employers to be required to pay their workers that much. Watch it:
Indiana’s voters should keep all of this in mind when they vote this November.
Mike Pence is, to steal from the old song, a “cold hearted snake”. He’s as much a two-faced poser as the rest of the GOPigs.
Democrats often confuse me. I know several successful liberals, and they all opposed the minimum wage change, not here, the author is mad because a congressman opposed it. Seems to me that no matter what a republican does, the liberal media is going to find it evil. I have no problem paying a fair wage for good work, but it seems to me that the liberals think I should pay an unskilled highschool drop out, a high wage. Why do liberals thinks every one derserves an equal amount? I am not being smart, I am really perplexed. I always thought the greatness of our country was that if you wanted to earn more, all you had to do was get a skill, or degree. Either item is not hard to obtain, and in fact, if you really are at the bottom of the wage scale, it is somewhat easier because of the buckets of money you qualify for from financial aid. So, again, please elaborate to me why the unskilled and uneducated people out there that do not take the steps necessary should be rewarded with a government mandated raise?
